Dr. Crenshaw was a clinician for over 30 years in the residential treatment of emotionally disturbed, often abused and traumatized children. He retired from the staff of Astor Services for Children & Families in 2001. He now serves on its Board of Directors as Secretary of the Board, and is a Member of its Executive Board Operations Committee.

Thank God for Children!
Children teach us to smile even if their own troubles
stretch a country mile.
Thank God for children!
Children teach us to see,
to wonder, to explore, and the courage to be,
Thank God for children!
Children show us the way,
when we become so jaded we have nothing to say,
Thank God for children!
We also once were one,
but sadly for so many that sense of wonder is gone.
Thank God for children!
The divine spark in children still glows.
It can light our way until our spirit like a river once again flows.
Thank God for children!
Children teach us about courage, hope, and caring.
Their urgent plea is for the adults of the world to find their bearing.
Thank God for children!
Let us listen intently to their voices,
for the lessons of the heart children can teach, the whole world rejoices.
