Astor’s Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) serves children who have difficulty safely managing their emotions. Children at the RTF have tried all of the services offered in their community and have had many psychiatric hospitalizations. These children may have also had unpleasant experiences or trauma in their lives. The RTF provides a higher level of mental health care so the child can reach their goals and excel in all areas of life.
Services:
- Evaluation by child psychiatrist
- Individual & group therapy
- Family support, education, and therapy
- Ongoing medication treatment
- Physical health
- 24/7 Nursing
- Crisis prevention/intervention
- Case management
- Room & board
- 24/7 supervision by trained child care professionals
- Therapeutic educational environment via Astor Learning Center
- Recreational activities
- Discharge planning
To Participate:
- Children must be between the ages of 5 – 13
- All of these children need more emotional and behavioral support than their community environment can provide
- All referrals must be certified by and come directly from the New York State Office of Mental Health Residential Treatment Facility Authorization Review Process
