Virtual Volunteer Opportunities

Adopt-A-Family Gift Card Drive
Project Details: COVID-19 has had a tremendous impact on the vulnerable families we serve – many of whom are living at or below the poverty line. Organize a gift card drive for our Adopt-A-Family program and help make a child’s wish come true!   Visit the Adopt-A-Family page for more information.

Read a book to the children in our Head Start Program
Project Details: Make a video of yourself reading a book for children aged 2-5.  We will post your video on our Head Start social media pages and share the video with our Head Start programs.

Writers/Copywriters/Editors/Public Relations/Videographers
Project Details: The Children’s Foundation of Astor is looking for professionals to assist with the following activities:  

  • Press releases
  • Editing/writing senior level bios for use in publications
  • Interview Board Members/Committee Members/Staff and write a short article 
  • Professionals with experience writing op-ed pieces
  • Website content and editing
  • Videographers to help with virtual events and storytelling
  • Articles for our annual Magazine (publishes in October every year) – various topics
  • Short articles for our website and social media on various topics – see examples below:
      September: National Suicide Prevention Month 
      October: Domestic Violence Awareness Month, National Bullying Prevention Month   
      February: Black History Month 
      March: Social Workers Month 
      April: Child Abuse Prevention Month

Volunteer Profile:  Writers, video production and PR professionals

Teach an art project or science experiment on video
Project Details: Make a video of yourself teaching an art project or science experiment for children in grades 1-4.  We will share these videos with our educators in the appropriate programs.

Host an art materials or activity drive
Project Details:  Host a drive in your community to gather the art and activity items needed for the children in our residential program in Rhinebeck, NY.  If you are interested in hosting a drive please fill out the volunteer contact form linked above, and a list of the items in need will be provided.

Participate in a virtual fundraiser
Project Details: Participate in our “Dollar Makes a Difference” campaign by sharing our Facebook posts with your friends.

Adopt-A- Family volunteer
There are many ways to be involved in our Adopt-A-Family Program which provides necessities and gifts for more than 1,500 children in the Hudson Valley and the Bronx during the holiday season each year!  You can be matched with a child to provide holiday gifts, organize a toy drive with your organization or help out at our gift delivery sites in early December.  If you are interested in helping with this project please fill out the volunteer contact form and a volunteer coordinator will contact you.
