Planned Giving

Planned giving provides an opportunity to support Astor’s children and families now and in the future.  With a planned gift, you make a major gift to Astor in a way that is integrated into sound personal, financial and estate goals and aligns with your plans for supporting Astor in your lifetime and after your passing.

Any gift that requires planning is a Planned Gift.
There are several ways to make a Planned Gift:

  1. Remember Astor in your will.
This is the easiest and most common method to provide future support.  In order to achieve this goal, you need to name the Children’s Foundation of Astor or Astor Services for Children & Families in your will.  You can designate either a specific amount of money, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate.

  2. Make a gift from your IRA or Qualified Retirement Plan.
You would take a distribution from your IRA or qualified retirement plan and make a gift of the distribution or other assets equal in value to the distribution.  If you are 70 ½ or older, you can instruct your plan administrator to make a direct deposit of up to $100,000 to Astor.  In this scenario, the distribution would not count against your gross income and would count towards your minimum distribution requirement.  You can also name Astor as a beneficiary of your retirement plan

  3. Provide a gift of securities.
This is a way to support Astor while at the same time avoiding capital gains taxes.  If you are thinking about making a major cash gift to Astor, we recommend you speak with your tax attorney and consider making a gift of an appreciated security.

  4. Life insurance Policy.
You can name The Children’s Foundation of Astor as a primary or contingent beneficiary of a Life Insurance Policy.

There are many options available for supporting Astor now and in the future.
