- Workshop Description:
This workshop will introduce the core concepts behind family systems therapy and explore the
perspective of understanding symptoms in children and young persons as a systemic/dynamic process. Participants will learn how to intervene to facilitate change with the use of effective language and strategies. The workshop will also highlight the person of the therapist and how the therapist/practitioner brings their own story into the context of family therapy.
Andrew Fussner, LCSW
Andrew Fussner is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and their families. He has served in a variety of positions throughout his work including clinician and supervisor and he has also brought his expertise in family therapy as both a teacher and consultant to agencies and educational institutions in the United States and around the globe. Mr. Fussner brings firsthand knowledge and a wealth of experience to training therapists to provide family-based clinical services to children and adolescents in their home and community and Astor Services for Children and Families has had the pleasure of receiving this expertise via ongoing training with Mr. Fussner at our outpatient clinics. Mr. Fussner continues to work as a consultant to various mental health and professional associations and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Children and Youth Division of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Catholic Social Services.
